The Wheelhouse LMS uses Categories/Departments to organize Course training in commonly titled areas within an organization. Categories/Departments are found on the Administrator/Manager Dashboard when displaying Staff progress; within the Library Course listing as headers to organize Courses; as headers on the Your Courses page; and to identify which areas People are assigned to from the People Tab.


When a Manager, Administrator, or Account Representative sets a user's role to Manager, they are required to select a department for that manager to monitor. Staff members should be assigned a department as well so that their training progress can be adequately monitored by their managers. As well, Wheelhouse College has standard course enrollments for new users, and selecting a department enables them to be automatically enrolled in the appropriate courses and begin their training more quickly.
